Life is all about balance.

Last weekend I worked the night shift from 5pm to 7am on both Friday and Saturday. I got off at 7am on Sunday and was expected to be at work the next day on Monday, bright and early. While attending to patients is a privilege, I couldn’t help but think about how my weekend had essentially washed down the drain before my very eyes.

Determined to make the most of the few hours of free time I had, I resisted the urge to sleep all day and met up with a friend for a few hours! We visited the Dunes Apartments where Issa, the main character of one of our favorite shows, Insecure, lives. Then we got brunch at 26 Beach near Santa Monica, and went to the beach.

We probably spent a total of 3-4 hours out, but I was happy to have gotten the chance to decompress for a few hours before reporting to work the next day.

Moral of the story: Life will always be busy and demanding, so take the time rest and reset whenever you can.

P.S. I took like 3 naps that day to stay up, but it was worth it!
