Venice Beach and Abbot Kinney
A few weeks ago, I ventured out with my friend David to Venice Beach and Abbot Kinney for a lazy Sunday after church. One of my favorite things to do is park my car and explore a cool neighborhood on foot. Wow, I’m boring. After breakfast at Eggslut (the line was out the door), we walked to Venice Beach which was about 2 minutes away. Venice Beach is …interesting, to say the least. The boardwalk is always busy, full of street performers, vendors, and tourists on scooters. It’s definitely worth visiting at least once, but probably not your best bet for a quiet beach day.
After 5 minutes at Venice, we walked to Abbot Kinney Boulevard (about 5 minutes away) which is home to a stretch of cool, expensive, hipster shops, bars, and restaurants. We got coffee at Intelligentsia Coffee and ice cream at Salt & Straw . We spent the rest of the day playing “Guess How Much This Costs” followed by drinks at Roosterfish. We lucked up and ended up being there on the day that they were serving free food out back!!
Perfect Sunday in my book.
