Cocktail Making Class and Outrageous Ice Cream in DTLA
This past weekend I headed downtown to try something new: cocktail making! I attended a class at the Association, a luxe bar/night club that specializes in whipping up cocktails! These classes offer cocktail enthusiasts like myself to learn more about crafting fun, creative drinks. Classes occur every Friday and Saturday from 8-9pm, and range from $20 - $30 per person. Each night has its own theme. Our theme happened to be rum!
Classes are led by the head bartender and cover topics such as the history of the liquor, how they’re made, how they’re typically incorporated in contemporary cocktails, and what glasses the cocktails are typically served in. I recommend this class for anyone wanting to brush up on their bar knowledge. Not only do the bartenders demonstrate how to create 3-4 different cocktails, but they also review common bar vocabulary and allow you to ask questions pertaining to your own bar/ drinks at home.
The steps on how to craft each drink are demo’d then served to class attendees to try. At the end of the class, recipes are reviewed for members to jot down for future use. The class is then followed by a happy hour!
After a Moscow mule I probably didn’t need (can’t beat happy hour), my friend and I decided it was time for dessert because duh. We found ourselves at The Dolly Llama enjoying artisanal ice cream in handcrafted egg- puff waffle cones…YALL.
YALLLLLL
So good! The pictures speak for themselves.
